Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Meet the San Antonio Team Behind Kindling Chimney San Antonio
We’re a small crew, and that’s on purpose. Every technician who walks through your door in San Antonio is someone we’ve trained ourselves, background-checked, and held to the Cedarwell Care Promise from day one. No subcontractors, no strangers, no “we’ll send whoever’s available.” The crew you’ll meet below are the people who actually run the sweeps, inspections, and fireplace repairs across San Antonio, from Alamo Heights to Stone Oak and down toward the Southside. They know creosote, they know Texas heat-and-rain cycles, and they know how to treat your floors like their own.
Styles & brands we work with

Our People
Marcus T. – Lead Technician
Marcus has been sweeping chimneys in San Antonio for over a decade, and he’s seen just about everything a South Texas flue can throw at him: glazed creosote from mesquite fires, rusted dampers from humid summers, and the occasional squirrel nest in a rarely-used fireplace in Terrell Hills. He’s certified through the Chimney Safety Institute of America and specializes in Level 2 camera inspections, which means when he tells you a liner is fine or failing, he’s got footage to prove it. Marcus is the technician Danny sends when a job is complicated or a homeowner has questions that need straight answers. Outside of work, he rebuilds old Weber grills and swears by post-oak for brisket.
Luis R. – Senior Installer
Luis handles the heavier side of our work: stainless steel liner installs with DuraFlex, HeatShield resurfacing, and fireplace repair jobs that require precision and patience. He’s factory-trained on Olympia Chimney and Gelco products, and he’s the reason our repair warranties mean something. Luis came to us from residential construction, and it shows in how carefully he sets up drop cloths and protects furniture before a single tool comes out. He’s a father of three, coaches youth soccer in the Leon Valley area, and has a reputation on the crew for bringing the best homemade salsa to the shop.
Elena S. – Service Coordinator
Elena is the voice on the phone when you call (361) 491-3153. She’s a San Antonio native, knows the neighborhoods, and handles scheduling, written pricing confirmations, and the photo documentation we send after every job. If you call at 11:30 at night with a question about your chimney, Elena or another live person answers, because that’s the standard. She keeps the crew organized, the vans stocked with pet-safe products, and the shoe covers where they belong. Elena also runs our follow-up line: after a sweep or repair, she follows up to confirm you saw the clean-up photos and that everything met the Done Right standard.
Jorge A. – Apprentice Technician
Jorge is the newest member of the crew, and he’s learning the trade the right way: under Marcus, on real jobs, with real accountability. He’s already certified for sweep basics and is working toward his full CSIA credential. Jorge grew up in the Southside, and his family runs a small taqueria off Roosevelt Avenue. He’s quiet, detail-oriented, and the kind of person who wipes down his boots before stepping onto a runner because the Cedarwell Care Promise was drilled in from his first day. Homeowners like Jorge because he explains things simply, and he never pretends to know something he doesn’t.
One Standard, Every Job
Every crew member at Kindling Chimney San Antonio works to the same standard, whether it’s a standard sweep in a 1950s ranch off Bandera Road or a full liner replacement near the Pearl District. The 365-Day Done Right Promise means if something isn’t right, we make it right. No fine print, no runaround, no arguing. Before any work begins, you get a written price. Before the crew leaves, you get a photo of the clean-up. Shoe covers go on at the door, drop cloths go down before the tools, and nothing in your home gets moved without asking first. The C.A.R.E. values are what we train on: Courtesy, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence, because a chimney sweep is only good if you’re comfortable having us in your living room. Danny Cortes sets the tone, and the crew holds each other to it.
